Platter – Medium
This wheel-thrown stoneware platter is glazed on the inside with a Shino glaze. The rim and the underside of the platter are bare clay, which allows the flame to make its mark during the firing process.
This one-of-a-kind platter has been fired to Cone 10 (2350℉) in the wood kiln at Chester Springs Studio in Historic Yellow Springs. This platter was fired with another platter stacked on top of it upside, which creates the unique circles around the rim.
Due to its size and the nature of wood firing, platters such as this one become alive and create their own shape and unique features.
The platter is 11.5” wide.
